In short, beard balm offers many of the same benefits of beard oil while providing the kind of hold needed in a thicker beard. The butter provides extra moisture while making it easier to spread to spread the balm throughout your beard.
Bearded men were turning heads long before The New York Times declared facial hair fashionable. There’s just something about a well-groomed guy that makes you stop and stare. You’ll also notice when there’s a hair askew, or the way the not-so-sexy scruff feels against your face.
Super informative article. One of many i’m guessing. Haven’t had time to peruse any of the other articles on this site but no doubt that will be of the same high calibre. Any one who writes a great review about Honest Amish Beard Balm is a friend of mine – and of who i rankly highly in the beard grooming world. I was introduced to Honest Amish after coming across a similar review article over at Hot Shave Hustlers. It’s a product that just keeps on giving and giving year in – year out. No doubt in my top 3 beard balms along with the infamous Wild Willies Beard Butter and Professor Edward Fuzzworthy’s beard care balm gloss,(…what a mouthful!). Also highly impressed by other products coming out of the Honest Amish stable, namely the Premium Beard oil and the Beard and Body Soap (slick). Hands down a great article right here. Look forward to perusing the site and reading much more.. JM
Generally the “cheek line”, the upper limit of the beard on the cheeks, is best left natural. Some men butcher otherwise excellent beards by shaving the cheeks into strange shapes. Unless your beard appears to be starting just below your eyes, you probably are better off not shaving or sculpting the beard on your cheeks.

What exactly is a dry oil? The CanYouHandleBar team took their classic beard oil and added just enough beeswax to make the oil solid at room temeperature. This is definitely a thinner balm as a result, but won’t leave your beard sticky as you don’t need much.
Beard texture paste is one of those newer beard products that many men don’t really know about, but it can be useful for creating hold and texture simultaneously in your beard, which is great if you have super silky fine beard hair, which is rarer than other beard hair textures but does occur.
Next, apply some utility balm or beard oil. Applying conditioning agents to damp hair allows them to be absorbed more effectively. We’re also about to bust out a hairdryer, so these products will help protect your hair while you manipulate it with heat.
Hey guys. My beard is pretty thick and most of the time pretty unmanageable haha. My hair is somewhat coarse, wirey, curly and generally kinda just grows all over the place. It tangles and mats up and pulls and catches something fierce. I can hardly brush it with it catching and pulling. Even when damp or after fresh oil it still pulls. Plus I have a hard time getting oil to the skin bc of the thickness I have. Not to mention under my jawline doesn’t seem to want to grow down. It’s kinda like kudzu vine. It’s just wraps around itself and doesn’t provide and length. The hairs from above the jawline and my cheeks grow down and are fairly manageable but the underside not so much. I can brush it down 20 times and it just knots right back up. It’s got thickness and fullness but I’m not able to show my true length (which I could be proud of if I could display it) any recommendations on how to try and tame this “briar patch”?
The ER-GB40-S is good for wet and dry use and fully waterproof. You can use it in the shower or over the sink, with shaving gels, lotions, and foams, and its cordless option means you can use it almost anywhere. We think it’s the best cordless beard trimmer on the market.
Carrier oils will make up the bulk of your beard oil recipes. They’re a base oil that carries the more potent essential oils and dilutes them to make them more palatable for your skin. When not diluted, essential oils can actually cause irritation and burning. There are a variety of carrier oils out there that provide different benefits, and most have just a faint scent (unlike the potent essential oils). My choices for carrier oils — jojoba, sweet almond, and coconut — were chosen mostly on availability, but they’re also the ones that are most common in beard oil recipes.
As much as we’d like to think stress is as easy to get rid of as wishing it away, but that’s just not the case. Our advice to remove stress in your life is to take a 10-minute break every once in awhile during the day, or when you feel your stress the most, to focus on your passions. Maybe take a walk and think about puppies, spend some time doodling, or maybe just take a short nap. Just try to get outside for a bit. Your body needs vitamin D to maintain your natural hormone balance.
We promise, under no circumstances, will you be able to break your beard with our products. But here’s how the pros apply Texas Beard Co. Oil or Balm for max studliness (the process for both is pretty much the same). First things first: the goal is to train your beard to be awesome 24/7. After your morning (or 3pm because your Saturday night was that good) shower, apply your Oil/Balm.
This wireless model is very demanding when it comes to how often it needs to be oiled, but this is almost compensated for by the incredible drainage system that prevents the buildup of water from using the unit in the shower with shaving foam. A simple rinse under the faucet cleans it as good as new.
Nothing too interesting here. Just a solid combination of carrier and essential oils. They are listed as: grapeseed oil, almond oil, beeswax, shea butter, cocoa seed butter, coconut oil, vitamin E oil, pure honey, orange peel oil, grapefruit peel oil, and clove flower oil. Nothing too crazy, and all these are pretty common. The product is handmade, cruelty free, and vegan friendly.
The Zohar, one of the primary sources of Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism), attributes holiness to the beard, specifying that hairs of the beard symbolize channels of subconscious holy energy that flows from above to the human soul. Therefore, most Hasidic Jews, for whom Kabbalah plays an important role in their religious practice, traditionally do not remove or even trim their beards.
Most guys know all about the awesomeness of cocoa butter. If they’re already proud papas, but for those who don’t, cocoa butter is an excellent base for conditioners and lotions (hence Honest Amish’s choice to use it as an ingredient), because it softens skin (and hair) without making it greasy. It can also help lessen the look of scars and stretch marks, which is why dads know all about it because their wives and girlfriends will have been all about the cocoa butter while pregnant. Shea butter, another ingredient in Honest Amish, has similar effects as well.
Beard Oil is a combination of oils and vitamins that you apply to your beard that is essential for maintaining your beard, mustache, goatee and other other form of facial hair. Regardless of the length of your beard, your facial hair should be taken care of just like you would with the hair on your head and that’s where Beard Oil comes in.
For some guys, the day they decide to let their beards grow, they are met with the beginnings of a full, dense mane of hair on their faces. And for others, they find the process to be slightly less encouraging. Sparse and wiry hairs, and hairless patches can thrust doubt into the mind of a beardsman, but we’re here to tell you that just because you’re sporting a patchy beard doesn’t mean there aren’t things you can do to make it look fuller, denser, and more badass.
The answer #1 is minoxidil. It works by activating the potassium channels on your hair follicles and allows for increased circulation of nutrients, testosterone, and DHT to the beard follicles, dramatically improving beard growth within 6-12 months.

Let’s be honest not everybody can grow a full beard. Facial hair will vary depending on the shape of your face and genetics – whether you’re naturally hairy or not. Remember that in essence growing a beard is a fashion statement. The last thing you want is a beard style that will not fit the shape of your face.
Some men can grow a beard faster, and some slower. Not all of your hair grows at the same rate, so patches on your cheeks may fill in later. But you can take some steps to help the process. Make sure you’re eating well and exercising daily to encourage healthy hair growth. Beard oil can help but have in mind that not all beard oils are of the same quality, so choose wisely.
Beard oil can be used in conjunction with beard balm or as a stand alone product. For best results wash your beard with an all natural beard soap and apply beard oil when dry. Splash a dime size amount of beard oil in your palm and massage into your skin and beard. Brush the oil through your beard with a boars hair beard brush to help distribute the oil evenly throughout your facial hair. Use up to three times a day as needed. Like all natural beard balm, beard oil does not need to be rinsed out.
I was just recently introduced to beard oil by a former co worker and was wondering. I’ve already got an inch to an inch and a half of beard. Would beard oil still benefit me much or is it better to start fresh?
So you have a beard, or know someone who does and want to get to kissin’? We’ve got you covered, cause beard burn is a real thing and a mustache can really get in the way sometimes. Beard burn can happen at any point in your growth process, but it more common in the early stages usually with a shorter beard. It’s when you make out with a someone for a bit, and your beard rubs against your partner’s chin causing it to become raw and irritated.
Mustache wax has a stronger hold than styling balm, so a tiny bit goes a long way when it comes to unshakeable hold. As a result, a little tube of wax can last you a pretty long time. It offers a naturally flexible hold and keeps hair out of your mouth while you eat.
That said, finding the right trimmer to execute this not-really-shaving look is a challenge. You want one that will last for years while still holding its charge, preferably with a lithium-ion battery. The blades should be sharp — for morning efficiency, mostly — and the tool should feel good in your hands without seeming cheap, or getting too easily clogged with hairs. My last trimmer recently went kaput, so I decided to check out all of the options on the market to find the best replacement. After researching more than 30 trimmers, and testing a dozen from major electronics brands and digital upstarts alike, these five stood out. And not just for simple things like having the most power, or the strongest blades, or ample battery life, but for otherwise being a cut above the rest. (Sorry.)
Hair that’s supple lays flat and won’t scratch your girlfriend. “I use Dude No. 1 Beard Oil for a little bit of shine and to keep my skin underneath moisturized,” says Olvera. If you’re looking for a fuller, thicker beard, you can also try biotin.
