jay bearden construction | thinning out a beard

I just wanted to tell you, great job on your article. Nose hair is a big issue lol. and a pain in the ass, so I can relate. I just published an article about growing a viking beard and I linked to your article. Great job!
Remember that less is more and you can always trim more another day. In terms of maintenance I’d recommend rinsing the beard thoroughly everyday in the shower and apply beard oil daily. You can wash the beard with a beard wash anywhere between one and 3 times a week.
Our beard grooming guide is based on decades of successful beard grooming practices. You are encouraged to adjust these beard grooming tips as you learn what works best for you and your beard. Each beard is unique and each beard deserves a custom care and maintenance regimen. Using our guide, you will be well on your way to creating a beard care plan that works best for you.
Nothing too interesting here. Just a solid combination of carrier and essential oils. They are listed as: grapeseed oil, almond oil, beeswax, shea butter, cocoa seed butter, coconut oil, vitamin E oil, pure honey, orange peel oil, grapefruit peel oil, and clove flower oil. Nothing too crazy, and all these are pretty common. The product is handmade, cruelty free, and vegan friendly.
Many beard trimmers can’t give you ideal stubble, and your best bet is to buy a stubble trimmer meant for the job. The biggest difference between the two is in the settings. A stubble trimmer can trim facial hair extremely short – short enough to give you the 5 o’clock shadow look if you so desire.
Since the mid-twentieth century, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) has encouraged men to be clean-shaven,[46] particularly those that serve in ecclesiastical leadership positions.[47] The church’s encouragement of men’s shaving has no theological basis, but stems from the general waning of facial hair’s popularity in Western society during the twentieth century and its association with the hippie and drug culture aspects of the counterculture of the 1960s, and has not been a permanent rule.[46]
I just put in membership for the dollar beard club by Uncut Beard Company. This is my first beard oil and mustache wax. I was wondering if you have used this brand before. How good a quality are they and how is the product compared to other major brands. They seemed to be the cheapest as to where a .5oz bottle of oil at just a healthy $dollar$! Any thoughts?
There’s gonna be a lot of companies that will take advantage of your impatience. There are no pills that give you a fuller thicker beard. There are vitamins that will speed up the process, but only as much as your diet is lacking. Don’t fall into all the myths you hear. Do your research before believing anything. Shaving doesn’t grow your hair back thicker. You’re growing up, and shaving is only the difference of time. There’s a lot of companies out there that say you’re only a man if you grow a beard, that you’re only masculine if you’ve got a super beard. Your beard doesn’t define your masculinity, neither does your body shape or amount of muscle you have. You’re your own person. Don’t fall into their trap. You don’t have to look how they want you to look. You’re an awesome dude no matter what they say! Just love what you have, and love who you are!
A wet beard will interfere with the spreading of the oil (oil and water don’t mix!). Make sure your beard is dry. If you apply the oil after a shower, towel dry your beard vigorously , even the under beard, before applying the oil. This will help make sure you get even distribution on your beard.
While I was looking at each beard oil company, I noticed that just about every one offer a true unscented one. They were called, unscented, nude, bare etc…etc. You just have to look at the whole catalog of each company. Lucky Scruff offers one, Dream Beard does, as well as Blacklabelbeard and Beardoilshop.
Untangling your face blanket is all part of the beard care process. In fact, the best time to do so is after applying some beard oil, and once that’s done, use this dual-sided facial comb for good measure. Contour-shaped teeth guarantee the beard receives balanced contact and supports different hair widths, perfect for grooming difficult brush spots such as the upper and lower lip. Look at the head of the comb and discover a set of smaller teeth designed for styling your ‘stache and sideburns to precision.
There’s simply a ton of convenience wrapped into this unit without having to insert and replace a lot of attachments. The settings make it easy to create stubble and help the Series 3500 rank as a top beard trimmer for short beards.
Whether you’re maintaining a touch of stubble of a great beard, the Philips Norelco Trimmer 7200 delivers. You’ll have less mess when you’ve finished thanks to its integrated vacuum system, while it has long-lasting cordless power.
Coconut oil, being an excellent moisturizing agent, is often used in beard oils. The coconut oil that you buy in the store is most often in solid form, as it has a high melting point of about 76 degrees F. This can obviously make it difficult to work with. To use coconut oil as a base carrier of your beard oil, you’ll have to first melt it so you can mix with your essential oils. I put a large tablespoon of the solid oil into a dish, then set that dish into another that had hot water. The oil liquified in no time and I was able to mix in a few drops of an essential oil. It will then re-solidify, and you end up with more of a beard balm. You simply rub a little on your fingers, and your body heat will melt it, thereby turning it into oil again, ready to use on your facial hair.
To put it simply, beard balm is a leave-in conditioner. It moisturizes, conditions, softens and helps you style your beard. The majority of beard balms contain shea butter (for softening and moisturizing), sweet almond oil (for conditioning and growth), and a sealant such as beeswax (to retain moisture).
The verdict: A multi-directional blade system with both shaving and trimming properties, the original OneBlade was built to meet every facial styling need. The latest model launched, the OneBlade Face + Blade, ups the ante and is now designed for complete body grooming (aka manscaping). It’s through the use of comb attachments (1mm, 3mm or 5mm) that the machine effectively tackles stubble length. Philips shaving technology excels at a superior level, with a moving cutter that moves at two hundred times per second. Translation: It cuts quickly through long beard hair and not so closely to the face. A dual-protection system guarantees sleek execution, preventing any hairs from being caught in the blade. Shorten your extended goatee for the imperial look or use the razor itself to enjoy a comfortable shave. Be it this one or the standalone (and less expensive) model, you can’t go wrong.
Rest assured, you’ll have plenty of options while looking for a beard trimmer. There are many types of trimmers on the market with lots of different features – from corded to cordless, the number and kind of attachments, and different settings.

There are a lot of groups on the internet that will provide support if you are having a bad beard day. My favorite places to hang out are: /r/beards, Beardboard.com, and BeardedGents.com. Upload photos of your beard growth progress and bask in the positive and constructive comments from other beardsmen.
A beard brush is another one of the beard tool essentials every bearded man should own. It’s even good if all you’re sporting is stubble because even short beard hair needs to be guided in a sensible direction every now and then.
A man with a beard has a single priority, and that is his beard. So, help nourish it the right way using an organic beard oil that can make your beard soft and manageable. Beard oil is essential for hydrating and maintaining healthy facial hair.
The Panasonic Arc 4 features 4 blades and a dual motor that delivers the promise of a close and precise shave to the user. The blades are also honed at a 30 degree angle that intensifies their sharpness and makes them more durable. It has almost all the features of Panasonic Arc 5 and is among the most popular electric beard trimmers category.
Perhaps you think you are following all the right steps: cleaning, protection, hydration, conditioning, trimming. But your beard is still rough. There might be something wrong with that last step right there. We know everybody speaks about the importance of trimming when growing a beard. But what most people don’t say is that it is also important to give your beard a good quality trimming.

If you’re a guy, you’ve probably thought about growing out your beard at some point. Lucky for you, the internet is rife with information about how to grow a beard. The downside is that most of it is pretty vague and none of it is very centralized. The Ultimate Beard Guide is designed to be a complete overview of everything you ever wanted to know about beards and beard care—all in one convenient place. Before we get started, let me answer some questions you may have regarding your future beard.
To apply beard balm simply open the tin and use the back of your thumbnail to scrape some out. Warm the balm in between your fingers by rubbing them together. Gently apply the balm to your beard with your fingers and massage it in. Use a comb to then evenly distribute the balm. A brush can be used for this step but a comb is much easier to clean and maintain when applying product.
No mess, no stress. With the Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer 7200, you’ll get both because its unique design comes with an internal vacuum that makes for a clean shaving experience. And who wouldn’t pick a clean sink over the alternative?
With minoxidil, any hair that grows when you take it will fall out when you quit taking it. It also comes with some side effects; like any other drug. With a beard implant, you’ll find the cost to be pretty expensive. I’ve heard it can be anywhere from $5k to $20k to get the treatment done. Of course, those come with a lot of pains of surgery. As always, our best suggestion is to embrace who you are and the genetics that you’ve been dealt. Your beard is truly unique to you and makes you who you are.
Thank for this interesting post… After reading it, I’ve tried the Wisdom beard oil which was great. However, it was a little bit too overpowering for me. As I was searching for a beard oil rich in vitamin E, I opted for the Urban Beard Original beard oil which has a more subtle perfume and frankly I love it & I’ll recommend it to everyone: https://barbaware.com/en/beard-oil/146-original-urban-beard-beard-oil-30-ml.html.
If like to point out that hair has an enormous surface area and if you get an oil with a fragrance that massive surface area will readily release the odor to the air. Also remember where your nose is in relation to this fragrance and ask yourself if you really want to have the odor of pine trees blasted into your nose 24/7/365. I strongly recommend odor-free oils and balm.
Amish and Hutterite men shave until they marry and then grow a beard and are never thereafter without one, but it is a particular form of a beard (see Visual markers of marital status). Many Syrian Christians from Kerala in India wore[when?] long beards.
Sorry about that. We have a blog post that addresses that exact question. There’s a graphic that explains where you should trim. Take a look at this article and see if it answers our question. http://themodcabin.com/beard-styles-the-full-beard/
Age can play a factor in how fast beards grow. Men have the best chance of growing a thicker and longer beard between the ages of 25 and 35, because that is when the hair goes into the longest anagen phases of the hair growth cycle, which is when hair grows, which means you’ll experience the most growth then. (The hair growth cycle is covered in fuller detail in an above section if you want to learn more.)
There are many factors you should take into account in regard to trimming your beard evenly. Trimming a shorter beard is always going to be more even compared to trimming a longer beard. It’s also harder to get the same ‘even-ness’ rating compared to trimming a longer beard.
