If you’re up for trying some balm, consider something like Professor Fuzzworthy’s Beard Balm & Gloss Conditioner . Made in Tasmania, it contains beeswax from the Leatherwood plant. It’s designed to give your beard shape and keep it manageable, while also taming new growth itch. It has a sweet herbs-and-wood scent, too.
Inside your hair follicles is the bulb of the root of your hair. Hair grows from here towards the root proper and out of the hair follicle where it becomes the hair shafts that you see when you look at your beard in the mirror.
Unlike most OTC products, Powell’s is FDA-approved—something not mandatory for non-prescription topicals like their beard tonic. It’s also USDA approved, which also isn’t required for their purposes—it’s an extra step they chose to take to ensure their customers of their exacting quality standards.
Use the convenient glass dropper to put a couple drops of Beard Oil into your palm. Then rub hands together. Massage upward into the beard and skin under your chin and cheeks. To finish, groom beard down and style as usual. Wait for the compliments
Evolutionary psychology explanations for the existence of beards include signalling sexual maturity and signalling dominance by increasing perceived size of jaws, and clean-shaved faces are rated less dominant than bearded. Some scholars assert that it is not yet established whether the sexual selection leading to beards is rooted in attractiveness (inter-sexual selection) or dominance (intra-sexual selection). A beard can be explained as an indicator of a male’s overall condition. The rate of facial hairiness appears to influence male attractiveness. The presence of a beard makes the male vulnerable in fights, which is costly, so biologists have speculated that there must be other evolutionary benefits that outweigh that drawback. Excess testosterone evidenced by the beard may indicate mild immunosuppression, which may support spermatogenesis.

In order to balance the oil glands around your hair follicles, try oysters, crabs or clams once in awhile. I would suggest it when you have a date and you want to move to the next base. I heard they send the right messages (wink wink).
I’ve used the Leven Rose oil and it didn’t do much for me. It also does have a scent, nothing overly smelly, but there’s definitely a smell to it. I’m not a fan of the oils in general, but I tried Honest Amish beard balm and have noticed a lot less split ends and overall better beard health in the last year or so I’ve been using it. It’s easier to apply and a single tin of it lasts forever. I think I paid like $10 on Amazon for a tin and after a year I’ve still got like half of it left and I use it daily.
This will help nourish facial hair at the roots. Reverse and run your fingers through your beard in a downward motion from top to bottom, spreading the balm down the hair follicles. Don’t forget your mustache and the hair around your mouth. Brush the balm through your beard with a boar’s hair beard brush to distribute the balm evenly through your beard.
thabks for this informative post! I’ve been using tea tree essential oil on my beard for a few months. Wanting a change of scent, I think I’m going to go with the beard balm now that I know the difference! Cheers!

Do you exfoliate? If you have a beard (and even if you don’t), your skin will thank you for it. Using grade-A facial scrubs will help you ensure that you’re really getting all the gunk out from underneath your facial hair before you apply beard oil.
A great starting point for guys who have never tried out a beard oil before. Bulldog’s Original Beard Oil might be on the cheaper end of the spectrum but this stuff is legit, containing natural ingredients like aloe vera, camelina oil and green tea to condition your beard. After you wash — while your beard is still a bit damp — is the best time to use a beard oil. Normally a few drops will do; use your hands to work the oil into your hair and into the skin beneath. Not only will the beard oil hydrate your beard right down to the follicle, it will also leave your beard smelling good (do make sure you like the smell of the oil you pick — it’ll be right under your nose).
The ER-GB40-S is fully rechargeable and comes with an AC charging stand. You’ll get 50 minutes of use with an hour charge – but you can leave it on the charging stand and know that it’s always ready for use.
As always, Honest Amish stands apart from some of the other brands out there by using only all-natural and organic ingredients. Remember, your body is absorbing this stuff, so it’s important to consider that aspect when shopping.
If you’re having a hard time growing a beard, we have some advice that can help prevent you from looking like Michael Cera trying to grow a mustache. If you don’t know what I mean, I encourage you to Google it. No man wants to look like that.
Hey guys. My beard is pretty thick and most of the time pretty unmanageable haha. My hair is somewhat coarse, wirey, curly and generally kinda just grows all over the place. It tangles and mats up and pulls and catches something fierce. I can hardly brush it with it catching and pulling. Even when damp or after fresh oil it still pulls. Plus I have a hard time getting oil to the skin bc of the thickness I have. Not to mention under my jawline doesn’t seem to want to grow down. It’s kinda like kudzu vine. It’s just wraps around itself and doesn’t provide and length. The hairs from above the jawline and my cheeks grow down and are fairly manageable but the underside not so much. I can brush it down 20 times and it just knots right back up. It’s got thickness and fullness but I’m not able to show my true length (which I could be proud of if I could display it) any recommendations on how to try and tame this “briar patch”?
Now that we have provided you with the causes of a rough beard, we are also going to share with you some of the tricks we keep in our sleeves, to help you tame the rough beast that is taking over your face.

Hair that’s supple lays flat and won’t scratch your girlfriend. “I use Dude No. 1 Beard Oil for a little bit of shine and to keep my skin underneath moisturized,” says Olvera. If you’re looking for a fuller, thicker beard, you can also try biotin.

“It’ll take most guys about a month to grow out a full beard,” says Olvera. Resist overshaping it in the early days until you can see what you’ve got going on. (Do use a trimmer to make sure the hairs are all even in length, though.) To calculate the exact amount of time you’ll need, check our handy growth period calculator.
