As you can see, there are many different types of beard trimmers out there with different qualities that ultimately impact their performance capabilities. With so many options available on the market, however, the right option for you is out there.
The beauty with beards is that you can style it in many different ways. I recommend that you “grow what you got” which means, based on your beards genetics try to grow a style that fits your best parts of the beard. If you grow a full thick mustache – don’t trim that bad boy off.
Thank for this interesting post… After reading it, I’ve tried the Wisdom beard oil which was great. However, it was a little bit too overpowering for me. As I was searching for a beard oil rich in vitamin E, I opted for the Urban Beard Original beard oil which has a more subtle perfume and frankly I love it & I’ll recommend it to everyone: https://barbaware.com/en/beard-oil/146-original-urban-beard-beard-oil-30-ml.html.
After trying about 20 different beard oils, I decided to make my own. My first batch was 100% organic hemp oil and jojoba oil scented with sandalwood and leather. Even women were buying it. Some folks wanted to put it on their dogs. I said wait, let me check into that. Well the first 30 oz sold out in a week.
Whether you’re anxious to fill in a patchy beard, are growing a beard for the first time, or you’re wondering how to grow a beard fast—i.e. barefaced to lumberjack at record speeds—you need to know one thing: There’s no miracle drug. Sure, a supplement or two can accelerate the process—and we’ll get into that—but growing a beard quickly boils down primarily to the lifestyle you lead. Guys who are healthier across the board will have an easier time growing a beard quickly, and theirs will also be stronger and softer, too. If you want in on this trifecta of benefits, then follow these five tips for a better, faster, stronger mane.
In case you hadn’t noticed lately, beards are in. But those big, full fields of face follicles don’t happen over night. It takes some intentional TLC to grow and maintain a strong and healthy beard. That TLC regimen should include a quality made beard balm.
Our Beard Softener is a paraben, silicone, and sulfate free answer to everyone who needs a reliable conditioner for their beards. Beard softener is used just like hair conditioner – let it sit in the beard while you shower, then rinse out before drying. This brings essential hydration back to your skin and hair, which can be compromised depending on how active you are or how often you need to wash your beard (I’m looking at you, chefs and baristas!).
Eggs – Rich in protein and are a natural source of Biotin which is known to strengthen hair and is a well-known supplement which helps with beard growth. Eggs also have many minerals in them such as iron, calcium, and zinc.
The Braun 9 series has an extra trimmer as compared to the series 7, which the brand calls ‘Direct and cut’. The trimmer is used to align the hair that grow in different directions and then cuts them away.
Most beard balms are either all-natural, organic, or at the very least contain some natural ingredients. If you’re the type of guy who only does natural products, be sure to check the ingredient lists. The same goes for if you do only organic. While the science behind the pros and cons of these preferences can be debated, your own personal preference can’t be, and you should always go for the beard balm that’s made to your standards, if for no other reason than being true to yourself. (Plus, you’re more likely to actually use it if you like the ingredients.)
Maple Hill Naturals Honest for Men Original Scent Beard Wash is a great example of a 100% all-natural beard care product, made out of pure ingredients like hemp seed butter and coconut oil, that maintains the high level of quality you’re accustomed to from synthetic products, which are engineered by scientists to be superior.
Hey guys. My beard is pretty thick and most of the time pretty unmanageable haha. My hair is somewhat coarse, wirey, curly and generally kinda just grows all over the place. It tangles and mats up and pulls and catches something fierce. I can hardly brush it with it catching and pulling. Even when damp or after fresh oil it still pulls. Plus I have a hard time getting oil to the skin bc of the thickness I have. Not to mention under my jawline doesn’t seem to want to grow down. It’s kinda like kudzu vine. It’s just wraps around itself and doesn’t provide and length. The hairs from above the jawline and my cheeks grow down and are fairly manageable but the underside not so much. I can brush it down 20 times and it just knots right back up. It’s got thickness and fullness but I’m not able to show my true length (which I could be proud of if I could display it) any recommendations on how to try and tame this “briar patch”?
Also, if you’re not applying beard oil again midday or at night before bed, you may want to start. Air conditioners and heaters can zap the moisture from our skin and hair, and if you live in a dry climate that will also take it’s toll.
Follow up your shampoo with some beard conditioner, like Zeus Beard Conditioner Wash for Men. Not only does it soften all that new beard bristle you’re experiencing, it has a manly, subtle verbena lime scent that will make the ladies swoon.
I have a particular issue with skin crust forming at the base of the beard over a period of time, despite a daily cleansing regimen. Any suggestions as to handle this and which is the best oil or beard product that nutures the skin and the beard.
When you trim your long beard, keep it simple. Do only what you need to do to maintain the shape you want and no more. By practicing adequate nutrition, good beard care and some common sense, you’ll be able to get your beard to your desired length in no time.
Hi, Robert! That’s a great question. The answer is that you’ll continually benefit from using beard oil or beard balm. It helps to think about your hair, including your beard hair, has having a life cycle. Your hair is constantly falling out and being replaced with new hair. When applied properly beard oil will nourish your hair beneath the skin, which will improve it’s health as new hair grows in. It will also help keep the current hair healthy and hydrated which means less breakage.
Good beard balms are often scented with blends of natural essential oils instead of synthetics. Synthetic fragrance oils often contain toxic chemicals which can irritate your skin and alcohol that can leave your beard more dry and brittle in the end. Remember to read the ingredients of the beard balm before buying it.
While most noblemen and knights were bearded, the Catholic clergy were generally required to be clean-shaven. This was understood as a symbol of their celibacy. The adoption of different beard styles and personal grooming had great cultural and political significance in the Early Middle Ages.
Raise your testosterone levels to speed up facial hair growth. If you’re currently going through puberty, or have gone through puberty but haven’t started growing your facial hair yet, there are some simple things you can do to stimulate testosterone levels and encourage hair growth. The effect won’t necessarily be fast, but you’ll get hair growing if you do some combination of the following:

The natural highly conditioning ingredients in Smooth Viking’s Beard Balm nourish your hair from the skin to the root to the very tip of the hair shaft, tackling the issue of rehabilitating your beard head-on. The result is better, thicker beard growth.
Absolutely, it will help nourish your facial hair below the skin, so that your beard grows in strong and healthy, but it will also keep your facial hair moisturized to prevent from becoming brittle and breaking. If you’re having a hard time growing a beard, we have some advice that can help prevent you from looking like Michael Cera trying to grow a mustache. If you don’t know what I mean, I encourage you to Google it. No man wants to look like that.
On the other end of the spectrum, guys with lower levels of DHT have a better chance of keeping their head hair. That being said, just because you are in your 20’s and still have a patchy beard, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have low hormone levels. It’s about your body’s sensitivity towards these hormones and not the set values of them.
In the beginning of the 17th century, the size of beards decreased in urban circles of Western Europe. In the second half of the century, being clean-shaven gradually become more common again, so much so that in 1698, Peter the Great of Russia ordered men to shave off their beards, and in 1705 levied a tax on beards in order to bring Russian society more in line with contemporary Western Europe.
Your beard trimmer is only as good as the company it keeps, and by that we mean accessories. Owning an assortment of add-ons won’t just preserve the quality of your trimmer, but also prep your facial fur for a smoother trimming experience that won’t clog or damage the blades. So consider adding these to your collection.
Choose a beard style that fits your face shape. There are many ways to style and shape your beard, but a lot of the choice will depend on your face, and your personal sense of style. If it looks good to you, go for it. But in general, if you have full cheeks, plan on keeping it shorter on the sides. If you have a narrow face, you can keep some length to fill it out.
I’m having beard obsession, its almost complete 4 month and my beard is not getting any better i feel so bad, everytime i look at the mirror even several times a day hoping that at a single string of hair to grow on my face. I even dream beard sometime.
A wet beard will interfere with the spreading of the oil (oil and water don’t mix!). Make sure your beard is dry. If you apply the oil after a shower, towel dry your beard vigorously , even the under beard, before applying the oil. This will help make sure you get even distribution on your beard.
Wet shaving enthusiast, ex-beard wearer and proud blogger of the Manliness Kit. Besides my interest in man grooming, I’m also a gadget geek (where most of my spare income goes), and passionate football (soccer) fan. I’ve got a beautiful girlfriend who puts up with me and my hobbies on daily basis and for that, I ‘m very grateful.
We also have smaller combs that are designed specifically for your mustache, as well as pocket combs that have both narrow-toothed sides and wider-toothed sides that are great for combing your beard or mustache on the go.
Thanks for your question! With a patchy beard, it’s important to be patient. And obviously, our hair growth is affected by our health, so good nutrition and drinking lots of water is important. Beyond that, be sure to use natural products on your face, because synthetic chemicals can damage hair. I’d recommend our Core Beard Kit. It has natural, moisturizing soap, and beard oil and beard balm to provide nourishment for the hair follicles that are forming beneath your skin. Be sure and massage the beard oil into your beard and skin twice a day. If you live in a cold, dry climate you may only want to wash your face/beard every other day to avoid leaching all the moisture from your skin and hair.

It’s not all about the growth process. You gotta maintain your beard after you grow it out. So now you’ve reached the length you’re going for or you’re getting close, or maybe it’s becoming a bit more to handle and getting in the way. Have no fear, we’ve got a ton of help and advice to make life a little easier when you have a beard. After all, no one wants to grow a beard just to shave it off cause it get’s in their mouth when they eat.
Try this: Every few days, put a few drops of conditioner on your man mane in the shower. Let it sit for a minute or two (possibly while washing your body), then be sure to rinse thoroughly. Rinsing thoroughly is key or your hair will feel heavy!
You have to get used to it. Your beard now is part of you. Just like the hair on your head. But unlike the hair on your head, the beard gets in contact with the food you eat. And it’s more prone to be touched during the day.
