Use a beard trimmer. While it’s possible to trim longer beards neatly with a pair of hairdressing scissors, it’s very difficult to keep a beard orderly without an electric trimmer, or at least regular hair clippers. The only difference is typically the size of the guards and of the clipper itself.
I have a philips norelco 5100, but the beard comb doesn’t get the length I want. It says it goes from 1-18mm but I want in between 3mm and 2mm, but it doesn’t work, either it goes to low or to high. Is there something you could recommend? thanks
I’m looking for an unscented beard balm – you say number 4 is unscented but that’s wrong – look it up and you’ll see that it smells of sandalwood (the clue is also in the name of the product). Any ideas where I can find a decent natural unscented or minimal scent balm?
While many brands offer only a single beard oil scent, Beardilizer have a whole range of unique smells, including Gentleman Sandalwood, Ol’ Cowboy Leather and Choco Swag. Our favourite is Sweet Pipe Tobacco, which smells like you’ve taken a pinch of your granddad’s personal baccy blend and smeared it all over your mush. It’s also great for moisturising and will do wonders for your hands as well as your face fuzz.
Great question Trace. We recommend brushing your moustache through with a boars hair brush and than adding some beard balm. The sealants in the beard balm will help seal in the moisture from the jojoba and argan in the beard oil/balm.
Well, that wraps it up, friends. We want you to take all of your beard grooming products seriously, and beard balm is no exception. Like any product, there are a lot of pretenders on the market. The balms we’ve reviewed, however, are the real deal and would make a great addition to your beard grooming kit.
That being said, there is one thing you have to be careful with: rinsing. After each step, make sure you got all the extra product off your beard, because otherwise, this will have the opposite effect: instead of getting softer, your beard will get dry and, thus, rougher.
I’ve been using a Norelco Multigroom 5100 for a while. It’s fine, but the length/comb attachments aren’t good at gathering the hairs, always leaving randomly longer ones behind and making the whole process take longer. What’s the “even-ness” rating for any of the ones on this list?
And, as you might expect, none of Honest Amish’s beard case products, including their balm, have man-made chemicals, preservatives, fragrances, or colorings. Instead, you get all-natural ingredients that will condition, soften, repair, and nourish new beard hair growth.
i recently started growing my beard im commited to go through all the process of having my ideal beard. I grow facial but not enough to have a legit beard. Can u plz help me? On what to order for a begginer like myself ? i would really appreciate it thanks….
Taking care of a beard isn’t only about making sure it’s clean and moisturized. Sometimes it can grow in strange ways, different directions, or maybe just won’t cooperate. That’s when you can look to some of our helpful tools to train, trim, or guide your beard to be exactly how you want it. The essential tool that’s important to keep on you or near you is a comb.
Confucius held that the human body was a gift from one’s parents to which no alterations should be made. Aside from abstaining from body modifications such as tattoos, Confucians were also discouraged from cutting their hair, fingernails or beards. To what extent people could actually comply with this ideal depended on their profession; farmers or soldiers probably would not have grown a long beard because it would interfere with their work.
And if you’re a teenager or a guy in his twenties, remember that you won’t know your beard’s true density until you’re anywhere from late twenties to early forties. It’s only in this late stage—after adolescence ends—where men grow the thickest beards.
Your hair grows healthier and faster if the skin it’s growing out of is kept clean and nourished. You need to wash away excess oil, dirt, and grime from the pores by cleansing twice daily—once in the morning, once at night. Twice a week, follow this with a gentle exfoliating scrub, to buff away any dead skin cells that clog pores and cause breakouts. Then, chase it all with a nourishing moisturizer or oil to hydrate and condition the skin (and the hair plus its follicle!). All of this should improve your complexion, but will also set the pace for healthier, prompter hair growth.
Just because the beard is not super long yet, or where you want it to be, does not mean you can’t enjoy the growth that you have. Embrace each new growth phase as a time to test out new styles, and enjoy growing from stubble into substantial growth. Keeping the beard trim is also a great technique for creating the appearance of thicker, fuller hair. Long, straggly hair is not going to look good on anyone.
If you’ve absolutely maximized your beard growing potential and you are into your 30’s then maybe you can start to consider options that will help give you a fuller thicker beard. You have pretty much two options, one is to take minoxidil (aka Rogaine) and the other option is to get hair implants.
Powell’s Beard Tonic is made in Arizona, USA, where the air is hot and dry, which can be harsh on skin. Because of their dry weather expertise, they’ve crafted a beard tonic that’s a great beard oil alternative for those living in ultra-dry climates—it’s great for getting rid of itchiness too.
Beard oil and beard balm are also great beard softeners and should be among your beard care essentials. This beard oil and beard balm kit from Topher’s Beard Company come in their Drunken Pirate scent, which is their interpretation of Bay Rum.
The same relationship a traditional shaver has with his razor is the same one a beard wearer should have with his beard trimmer. And even if you’re one who favors a clean shave from time to time, never look at it as cheating on your grooming tools. Every season does call for a new look. Right? Seriously though, there really isn’t any other grooming tool capable of taming unattractive scruff and stray hairs.
What you can do, however, is start applying beard oil. Oil makes your beard look and feel healthier (as well as the skin underneath) and is an important weapon in your fight against beard itch. Beard oil is your friend.
A general rule of thumb is for every month of growth give it a day to think about shaving it off. So if you’ve been growing for 6 months, think about it for a week. This will prevent any errant beard losses.
Jack Black’s beard oil contains a list of certified organic ingredients designed to bring top-quality beard and skin care directly to your face, including Kalahari melon oil, vitamin E, plum oil, marula oil, brown algae, and carrot extract. The oil is vegan and cruelty free, while the scent is subtle and won’t linger all day. A balanced and hydrating blend that will leave your skin feeling soft and your beard looking shiny.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit has found that employers may not require clean shaving without good reason, since this has a discriminatory effect against a large number of black men who are prone to razor bumps.
There might be some people out there who are less than thrilled that you’ve decided to grow a beard. They may not like the color, or the style you’ve decided to go with, or even things out of your control like the length at the moment or any patches you have. There’s a short answer with a long explanation; it’s your beard, and on your face, so why should anyone be telling you how they feel about it.
Control can be tricky when you’re hiking a mountain trail, or crossing a stream to find the perfect trout. And don’t forget camping with your significant other. But Rocky Mountain Beard Balm will tame even the most epic of beards, making a strong contender for best beard balm for long beard.
This is absolutely not true, at least not necessarily. While there are several causes of acne, and it could make you break out worse, most types of acnes would be helped by coconut oil. Look into it and read about it, you’ll see numerous articles about it.
Benefits: Vitamin E is both a nutrient and antioxidant that promotes collagen and elastin production, is used to treat sunburns, relieves chapped lips and cold sores, and stimulates hair growth while repairing split ends.
Here’s where things get a bit foggy. After all, if you’re using a beard trimmer to maintain a certain length of hair, doesn’t it stand to reason that it could be used to maintain and trim stubble, as well?
Long Charging Time: 8 hours is the longest charging time we saw on any of the models we reviewed, and that can quickly get quite annoying if you’re trying to give yourself a quick trim on the way out to work and forgot to plug the device in before going to bed.
Beard oil is an oil-based light moisturizer that can be applied throughout your entire beard quickly and effortlessly. Its liquid form also means it’s more effective in hydrating the skin through shorter or trimmed beards as opposed to their larger counterparts.
Sometimes hair refuses to grow for other reasons. By and far the most common of these is vitamin deficiency. Americans have very poor diets because, as a people, we eat a lot of highly processed food that has been stripped of its nutrients. Taking a quality beard-oriented vitamin supplement, like Beard Boost from Better Beard Club, can get your beard out of its resting phase and help it transition back to the growth phase of the hair cycle. Trying to get your hair back into the growth (anagen) phase truly is the fastest way to grow a beard.
Apply beard oil or balm on dry (not wet) beard. Apply a few drops in your hands and massage your beard working your way towards the roots. Massage the roots as well. Here again, our trial and error experience tells us that a safe choice in terms of ingredients and results would be the Seven Potions products. But if you find something better, tell us about it!
Beard shampoo is the backbone of beard care. It cleanses debris out of your beard as gently as possible while maintaining your beard’s ideal pH balance, unlike scalp shampoo, which can be harsh on beards.
We’ve all read the stories about the kind of bacteria and filth that lurks in the average beard. It’s tantamount to libel against the mighty beard, if you ask us, but best to be on the safe side and get yourself a shampoo dedicated to keeping your facial hair clean and healthy. This one comes from trendy London barbers Murdock – which means this shampoo knows exactly what it’s doing – and uses a pH-balanced formula to purge it of any grime and nastiness.

[…] Bessarion later embraced the Catholic faith and in 1455 lost the election to become Pope with eight votes against fifteen from the cardinals. One of the arguments that was used against the election of Bessarion as Pope was that he still had a beard, even though he had converted to Catholicism, and insisted on wearing his Greek habit, which raised doubts on the sincerity of his conversion.
The Gyroflex 3D features makes it possible to contour around in 3 dimensions-pivot around, tilt inward and flex outward to move with the natural contours of the face resulting in a smooth shaving experience and preventing any bumps or cuts.
Hey Suketu, here’s the deal: After about 15mm hairs don’t have enough strength to stand on their own and even beard trimmers above that length will have trouble to trim your beard evenly. You are pretty much forced to help yourself with a comb and possibly scissors. Don’t bother looking for trimmers with longer settings, learn how to trim your beard using a trimmer, a comb, and scissors.
Beard dandruff is caused by the micro-organism Malassezia globosa and it’s feeding on the natural oils produced by your skin. Those oils are called sebum. The Malassezia globosa break down the oils into an oleic acid and some people have a sensitivity to the acid. People have a sensitivity which produces skin cells at a higher rate and this overproduction of skin cells is what causes dandruff. So it sucks to have beard flakes, but it’s a pretty common issue for people.
To buy the most influential product, you will have to carry on an in-depth market research. Where the market is cluttered with competitive products introduced by different brands, to buy the best professional beard trimmer requires your special attention. And below we mention the factors, which contribute a prominent role in letting you pick the most efficient product.
For best results, we recommend splashing a small amount of beard oil into your palm and massaging it into your skin and beard. This can be done after washing your beard with an all natural soap, or anytime you want to add some extra shine to your beard. In order to distribute the beard oil evenly through your facial hair, we recommend using a boars hair beard brush. This also serves the important purpose of gently removing dry, dead skin cells which can clog pores and cause ingrown hairs.
1. Take Supplements: Taking biotin supplements daily is one way to make your hair grow faster, and potentially stimulate regrowth for lost hair atop your head. There’s little conclusive evidence for its ability to stimulate the hairs that have fallen out, but one thing most doctors agree upon is that biotin does strengthen the keratin infrastructure of your hair, meaning it fortifies the hair and thickens it. So, in theory your beard grows thicker uniformly across each hair shaft. You can get biotin on the shelves of most drug stores, and there are many companies that tout beard-growing pills, which are mostly biotin and other vitamins packaged with some fancy graphic designs.
Our friends over at Tools of Men do a really great job at covering a wide variety of topic for men. Face creams, watch reviews, the different types of razors and oils to use, and so much more than we can’t even begin to describe. You just gotta check it out yourself! Hell, maybe you’ll learn a thing or two.
Beard growth rate is also genetic. An individual’s genes determine the anagen phase of hair in different parts of the body. The anagen phase is the amount of time a hair follicle will grow before the hair falls out and is replaced by a new hair. This in turn determines the length of the hair on that part of the body. The hairs of a bushy beard will have a relatively long anagen phase. The hairs of some men have shorter anagen phases and consequently have sparser shorter beards. The facial hair of most women and children has a very short anagen phase . Genes also determine whether the hair is a thick terminal hair like that of a bristle or a fine vellus hair like that on a child or womans face..
