Tip: It may seem counterintuitive when you’re trying to grow your beard out, but you can use a beard trimmer to keep all your facial hair trimmed to a shorter length closer to your face, which will help make those sparse patches less apparent while they’re filling in.
Beard texture paste is one of those newer beard products that many men don’t really know about, but it can be useful for creating hold and texture simultaneously in your beard, which is great if you have super silky fine beard hair, which is rarer than other beard hair textures but does occur.
Begin by holding your beard comb so that the teeth are pointed upward. Use a relaxed grip – like you use your toothbrush – so that you maintain the necessary amount of control while you’re combing. Next, comb out the beard with an upward motion to “fluff” it away from your face. The goal is to separate the hairs of your beard so you can more effectively get rid of the bed-beard look.
This one is a Remington, a name that is the brainchild of cordless and rechargeable shavers. The brand is popular for introducing a large number of reasonably priced electric shavers into the market. The F5-5800 comes with an intercept shaving technology that helps to cut the long beard before giving a final close shave. This makes it the best beard trimmer for long beards. We get you a detailed review of the product.
Serious beardsmen constantly seek ways to help their beard reach its full potential. They’re open to suggestions and ideas, both natural and human-made when it comes to information on how to grow a full beard. And by human-made, we’re referring to hair growth products.
This will help nourish facial hair at the roots. Reverse and run your fingers through your beard in a downward motion from top to bottom, spreading the balm down the hair follicles. Don’t forget your mustache and the hair around your mouth. Brush the balm through your beard with a boar’s hair beard brush to distribute the balm evenly through your beard.
This oil softens and soothes hair, especially thick or long beards. It locks in vital moisture to avoid dryness, counteracting frizz (and preventing you from looking rough). This is particularly helpful for men who consistently stroke and play with their beards, which can lead to split-ends and build-up of dirt. For best results, apply after a hot shower.
Natural beard oils are typically created with both carrier oils and essential oils, absolutes, and/or extracts. Carrier oils are oils that make up the bulk of the volume of the product and are formulated to condition the skin and beard. The most popular types of carrier oils are coconut, grape seed, jojoba, saffron and argan. They are used as a natural fragrance for the beard oils, but also may have aromatherapy benefits. Since essential oils, absolutes, and extracts are usually very strong they may cause chemical burns or skin irritation, they are commonly paired up with carrier oils in order to dilute them.
A softer beard starts with a good foundation. Wash your beard with beard shampoo only, so that your beard’s natural pH is maintained and you aren’t exposed to any harsh abrasives that might roughen up your hair.
Don’t give up! Set a target date. For example, give yourself a minimum of six weeks’ growth before deciding to abandon your beard-growing effort. Commit to not shaving before that six weeks is up. When you’ve reached the six weeks date, then you can decide whether you want to continue with the beard or get rid of it.
You might be concerned that putting oil on your face will lead to breakouts. Andy Bosselman, founder of Arithmetic, the company behind the highly acclaimed Acne Control Complex, says it’s actually quite the opposite: “Beard oils are not likely to cause pimples, in fact, they may even help your complexion.”
A physical change that is common to most teen boys is the appearance and growth of facial hair. If your teen seems to be anxious about his mustache, or why he doesn’t have a beard yet, our suggestions below may be able to help him. So, read MomJunction’s tips on how to help your teen facial hair to grow faster.
Moisturize daily. If you have sensitive skin, try several moisturizers before you start growing your beard, and continue moisturizing your beard follicles and your face after you grow a beard, to keep your skin healthy underneath. A healthy beard needs a healthy base from which to grow.
Think of your arm or leg hair. If you were to shave it off, it would grow back, but after a certain length it stops. This is when you have hit terminal length. On a beard, different parts of your face hit terminal length at different stages of growth. For example, your sideburns typically hit terminal length faster that the area around and below your chin. This is the reason why beards tend to have an oval shape when left untouched. Your mustache will also hit terminal length before your beard. This is especially true for the middle section of the stache.
Once you’ve finished trimming your chin, comb your beard again to identify any stray hairs that you’ve missed. Use your trimmer to remove those hairs and also shave your cheeks, if needed, to get rid of any excess hair.
We have an ongoing stream of customers asking about the difference between beard oil and utility balm, also commonly termed “beard balm”. Since the oil and the balm both moisturize your beard, which product works best for you?

Now to the actual exercises! Focus on resistance training. There have been a ton of studies that have shown these kinds of workouts stimulate testosterone production, and even increases the activity of androgen receptors to absorb it even more. In fact, having a body fat percentage of 8-14% is perfect for getting a ton of testosterone. But if you’re over that’s completely fine too. Really just get to the gym (or stay in your garage, or wherever you’re most comfortable) and just move around those dumbbells. Just lift some weights, and it’ll increase your testosterone. Remember to stick with it though.
After you’ve applied the sea salt spray and conditioning agents, use a hair dryer for the styling process. A hair dryer helps take the unwanted curls out of your beard and gives it the shape you want. For larger beards, we recommend using a round brush in conjunction with your hair dryer to control the direction your beard curls. Check out this article on best practices for using heat to style your beard.
Oiling up your grooming tools is a boring task most men bypass, but it’s essential to sustaining the quality of the blades. So quit being a “guy” and grease those tiny steel cutters for the sake of your machine’s lifespan. Wahl’s special blade ointment might be specifically designed for Wahl products, but it’s rich enough to reduce dullness and friction on all other trimmers. Spread three drops on the head every few trim sessions for tip-top results.
Use your clippers to evenly trim your beard: If you don’t have a lot of experience using clippers, it’s always best to start with a bigger guard. This ensures you don’t accidentally trim too much and you can always go smaller if you find you need to.
During the Chinese Qing dynasty (1644–1911), the ruling Manchu minority were either clean-shaven or at most wore mustaches, in contrast to the Han majority who still wore beards in keeping with the Confucian ideal.
The Series 3500 comes with a high-performance battery that some reviewers say provides up to 90 minutes of cordless use on a full charge (a full charge takes one hour). But the trimmer is good for both cordless and corded use. A battery light indicates when the trimmer is charging.

In the second century AD the Emperor Hadrian, according to Dion Cassius, was the first of all the Caesars to grow a beard; Plutarch says that he did it to hide scars on his face. This was a period in Rome of widespread imitation of Greek culture, and many other men grew beards in imitation of Hadrian and the Greek fashion. Until the time of Constantine the Great the emperors appear in busts and coins with beards; but Constantine and his successors until the reign of Phocas, with the exception of Julian the Apostate, are represented as beardless.
Because it worked so well on scalp hair, men naturally took the next step to see if it would work on their face. And it did, although not in the same way. Specifically, Minoxidil stimulates hair follicles already on your face rather than stimulating new growth as it does on your head.
Once you’ve washed your beard, you can pat-dry it with a towel to get the excess water out while the remaining moisture will dry in a matter of minutes. You should also comb your beard – using a good beard comb that’s designed for the job – to ensure that all of your beard’s hairs are lying flat.

Before going further, it’s important to reiterate that the thickness of your beard is somewhat limited to your genetics. The goal for thickening your beard should be achieving the maximum beard thickness your genetics allow for. Also, if you’re a teen or even a guy in his early twenties, be advised that your beard is likely nowhere near its level of adult fullness, so you probably won’t be able to achieve maximum beard thickness for a few more years anyway simply due to your age.
The carrier oils and essential oils were bought at my local GNC. Be warned, they aren’t cheap ingredients, but they’ll last a really long time. The essential oils were $5-$10 each and the carrier oils were each about $10 (even though the jojoba oil was 4oz and the sweet almond was 16oz — keep that cost difference in mind when making your own recipes). So while startup costs are higher, your per-bottle cost ends up being just $2-$3 using the recipes below. (Keep this in mind when thinking about Christmas presents for your bearded friends and relatives!)
