Like tight pants and suspenders, the resurgent popularity of beards in all their many forms is actually part of fashion cycle that has gone on for centuries. In some eras, they were considered the quintessence of the upstanding man, in others, the reserve of the ruffian or outlaw (to discourage them, Peter the Great even taxed facial hair). Interestingly, historians have noted that one of the chief influences over beard and facial hair fashion throughout history has been the military.

By the second week, you’ll have a better sense of the shape of your beard. It will be thick in many places, patchy in others, but you’ll begin to get a better idea of what beard style best suits your face. Growth is still your priority, however, so resist the urge to trim the edges or “clean it up.”
If you’re already doing your best to properly care for your facial hair, but you still have patches, then try finding a beard style that is shaped similarly to how your hair naturally grows. There are several beard style charts on the internet that you can take a look at to find a style that works best for you. In the end, you’ll be happiest if you work with what you have, and not against it.
Most new beardsmen trim the neckline too high. The ideal location for the line is where the neck meets the head.So whatever your beard area is parallel with the ground, do not trim; whatever is parallel with the world infront of you, then it’s ok to trim.
The Braun 9 series has an extra trimmer as compared to the series 7, which the brand calls ‘Direct and cut’. The trimmer is used to align the hair that grow in different directions and then cuts them away.
According to the Shia scholars, as per Sunnah, the length of beard should not exceed the width of a fist. Trimming of facial hair is allowed, however, shaving it is haram (religiously forbidden).
Our cellulose acetate combs were designed to prevent breakage and snagging on your beard. The combs are made in a little-known way: the shape is cut out of an acetate sheet, then the teeth are rounded off with a sanding stone. This makes the teeth tapered and smooth for maximum comfort while combing your beard.
To grow a healthier beard, it’s important to become a healthier you. Ditch empty carbs and go for protein instead, like omega-3-containing fish and other lean protein. Get on a vitamin regimen and be sure to devote at least 7 hours a night to sleep. And as always, exercise—it promotes beard growth.
This is no ordinary, run of the mill brush. There aren’t any plastic bristles to snag your beard and pull out your hair. A boar’s hair bristle brush is made from, well, a boar’s hair. It’s great for training your hair to grow in the direction you want, and provides a ton of benefits to your skin and hair. The bristles have a scaled texture that is perfect for sweeping away dust and grime, evenly distributing the oil of your skin, and stimulating circulation in your scalp and face.
Do everything in your power to lower stress. The stress hormone; cortisol directly lowers testosterone and DHT levels and causes weakened hair growth all around the body, including the facial hair area.
Once your child hits the teen years, there is bound to be a sea of change in his personality as well as the way he thinks. Teenage is when your child will want to assert freedom from the ‘child’ tag, yet be unsure about how to enter the ‘adult’ world. Add to this the pressure of wanting to look more mature and older, and your teen has too much on his plate.
Product price- The price is the leader, in the condition of perfect competition in the market; different brands are developing their customer list by providing products at discounted prices. Fade your cheek line: This avoids that artificial-looking hard stop on the cheeks. Though, it must be said not every guy has to worry about his cheekline—this step primarily depends on your beard growth pattern and if you have any hair there to manage.
Another way to look at beard balm is this: it’s a leave-in conditioner that is great for styling your beard and keeping stray hairs in place. Like beard oil, it also moisturizes and softens your beard – and is an essential tool in beard grooming kits.
Not sure if you’re ready for beard oil yet? Never fear my classy friend. Many beard oils come in sampler sizes so you can purchase smaller amounts to test before you commit to one brand. Here is a list of the beard oil sample packs I know of.
First, you can take supplements to make up for any deficiencies in your diet. My regimen usually consists of a multi-vitamin, biotin, and fish oil. Biotin will help your hair and nails grow faster and in other countries it’s called vitamin H for hair. In addition to these basics, you can add zinc, vitamin B (specifically B6), and magnesium.
This one should do the trick: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VS-Sassoon-Lithium-Pro-Cordless-Beard-Trimmer-Stubble-Shaver-Wet-Dry-24-Lengths/222593813168?hash=item33d3a00ab0:g:U84AAOSwo41ZeHJn Though it only goes up to 5 mm, but that should not be an issue for most. I use a version of trimmer myself.
That said, it’s important to note that, as with any person, you should have reached important developmental milestones by your early twenties even if you’re not yet fully developed. For instance, you should be at or very nearly at your full adult height by then—and you should at least have some facial hair. It may not be as full in your late teens as it will be in your mid-twenties, because you’re technically still in the throes of adolescence, but there should be some hair there nonetheless. If you haven’t at least began sprouting facial hair by age 17, you should probably check in with your doctor just to be sure everything checks out okay.
This one is a Remington, a name that is the brainchild of cordless and rechargeable shavers. The brand is popular for introducing a large number of reasonably priced electric shavers into the market. The F5-5800 comes with an intercept shaving technology that helps to cut the long beard before giving a final close shave. This makes it the best beard trimmer for long beards. We get you a detailed review of the product.
Grape seed oil is pressed from the seeds of grapes and is a by-product of the wine-making process. It has a higher concentration of linoleic acid than most carrier oils, and linoleic acid has anti-inflammatory, moisture-retentive, and acne-reductive properties.
This is really helpful information, Thank You. I haven’t grown my beard in 25 years, but I’m growing it now. It’s never going to be more than an inch or two long. I’m a 70-year-0ld, still active professional, so the highly groomed, sophisticate look is what I’m seeking. As if I have to say it, my beard is white. My intention is to train the sides to lay at a 45-degree angle along my cheeks. I understand that will take some work. If I’m reading your article correctly, it sounds as if beard oil will suit my purposes. What brand do you recommend, especially in light of my desire to train my beard?
I’m new to the beard oil scene, and would like your expert advice on a good oil to begin with — I enjoy woody and balsamic scents, but prefer a mild aroma (my wife gets headaches from some scents, and that’s the very last thing I want to do to her). What say you, good sir?
Ive recently started growing beard to the goal of a full one or a hipster beard now i know from my barber that i have thik beard hairs and im almost 3 weeks in now and im having a good beard but i have this small area at my cheek that has a little shorter hairs in it so will beard oil help me ?,
If you want to try using sea salt spray in your beard (it’s not for everyone!), you’ll want to start your routine with it. Apply the spray to your beard when it’s still wet from the shower and distribute throughout your hair with a beard comb. Sea salt spray will give you a more textured version of your natural beard that has a bit more volume than it would otherwise.
Some oils are made exclusively out of one or two carrier oils or one essential oil, making them very simple, but effective and trustworthy. While some companies boast with huge labels of ingredients on the back of the bottle. The truth is that there is no simple rule of thumb to which one is better – it is up to you decide which one works best for you and which one you actually prefer.
As with all issues we each find with our beards, the more you stare at it, the more flaws come to light and the more you judge your lack of bearded perfection, something that is really out of your control. By constantly judging your own beard, you’re only bringing yourself down and as your harshest critic, that can take a much larger toll than most might admit to. Try to remember that no one else who observes your beard is picking you apart like you do and the issues you see in your own beard will be greatly diminished if you can learn to not make hourly notes on your beard growth by constantly looking at its reflection. Moral of the story, the less often you look at your beard, the less you’ll be critical of it, and the more progress you’ll see when you do take a peek.

Great question Trace. We recommend brushing your moustache through with a boars hair brush and than adding some beard balm. The sealants in the beard balm will help seal in the moisture from the jojoba and argan in the beard oil/balm.
While I was looking at each beard oil company, I noticed that just about every one offer a true unscented one. They were called, unscented, nude, bare etc…etc. You just have to look at the whole catalog of each company. Lucky Scruff offers one, Dream Beard does, as well as Blacklabelbeard and Beardoilshop.
Tools like a beard trimmer for instance. A beard trimmer is versatile and makes it easier to get exactly the beard you want. And the best ones – like the Philips Norelco Beard & Head Trimmer Series 5100 – will advance your quest even closer to perfection.
Shaving seems to have not been known to the Romans during their early history (under the kings of Rome and the early Republic). Pliny tells us that P. Ticinius was the first who brought a barber to Rome, which was in the 454th year from the founding of the city (that is, around 299 BC). Scipio Africanus was apparently the first among the Romans who shaved his beard. However, after that point, shaving seems to have caught on very quickly, and soon almost all Roman men were clean-shaven; being clean-shaven became a sign of being Roman and not Greek. Only in the later times of the Republic did the Roman youth begin shaving their beards only partially, trimming it into an ornamental form; prepubescent boys oiled their chins in hopes of forcing premature growth of a beard.
Even for those of us with signs of dense facial hair, we still might not let our beards grow out in fear of uneven growth. It doesn’t matter who you are, there isn’t a single beard out there that naturally grows out in perfect uniformity from side to side, top to bottom, or chin to cheek. To think otherwise is silly and will put you on the fast track to disappointment. This gents is why we have beards trimmers and electric clippers, to help even out unruly corners of our facial hair and achieve the desired looks that we want for our beards. The only way you’ll know how your beard grows is if you let it do its thing and then adapt. Your beard is unique for a reason, it’s time to make peace with it.
Sorry about that. We have a blog post that addresses that exact question. There’s a graphic that explains where you should trim. Take a look at this article and see if it answers our question. http://themodcabin.com/beard-styles-the-full-beard/
What will help your beard grow better is a boost in testosterone. To boost testosterone, eat more red meats, avoid soy based products, and lift weights. Other good foods are: spinach, nuts, avocados, olives, broccoli, and olive oil. Brett wrote an excellent article over on Art of Manliness about naturally boosting your testosterone.
Don’t give up! Set a target date. For example, give yourself a minimum of six weeks’ growth before deciding to abandon your beard-growing effort. Commit to not shaving before that six weeks is up. When you’ve reached the six weeks date, then you can decide whether you want to continue with the beard or get rid of it.
I have a thick beard but when I use a dime sized drop of oil or balm it seems to disappear from my hands right away and not make a difference to my beard. I start with the beard but by the time I get to the other side of my beard or my mustache and sideburns it seems the oil/balm is all but gone. Should I use more?
