Most Chinese emperors of the Ming dynasty (1368–1644) appear with beards or mustaches in portraits. The exceptions are the Jianwen and Tianqi emperors, probably due to their youth – both died in their early 20’s.
Good beard balms are often scented with blends of natural essential oils instead of synthetics. Synthetic fragrance oils often contain toxic chemicals which can irritate your skin and alcohol that can leave your beard more dry and brittle in the end. Remember to read the ingredients of the beard balm before buying it.
Love him or hate him, James Franco makes sparse facial hair work for him. And if you have any doubts about that, ask the girls in your life: They will assure you, contrary to what you may believe, James Franco has it going on.
As with all issues we each find with our beards, the more you stare at it, the more flaws come to light and the more you judge your lack of bearded perfection, something that is really out of your control. By constantly judging your own beard, you’re only bringing yourself down and as your harshest critic, that can take a much larger toll than most might admit to. Try to remember that no one else who observes your beard is picking you apart like you do and the issues you see in your own beard will be greatly diminished if you can learn to not make hourly notes on your beard growth by constantly looking at its reflection. Moral of the story, the less often you look at your beard, the less you’ll be critical of it, and the more progress you’ll see when you do take a peek.
Hi, I keep a very short beard (a little longer than a stubble, maybe 1/8th inch or so). Would you recommend balm or oil to keep it soft and neat? If oil, would grapeseed and/or avocado oil be good? Thanks
Another great thing about it is that it comes in a 250 ml (8.45 fl oz ) bottle. As it only takes a very small amount of shampoo per every wash, it will last a very long time. Unless the smell and the after wash sensation will lead you to dependency and you won’t be able to stop washing your beard. We cannot guarantee against that!
There might be some people out there who are less than thrilled that you’ve decided to grow a beard. They may not like the color, or the style you’ve decided to go with, or even things out of your control like the length at the moment or any patches you have. There’s a short answer with a long explanation; it’s your beard, and on your face, so why should anyone be telling you how they feel about it.
That dog doesn’t listen, is chasing every random bird that appears in its periphery, tears into the trash can, barks at every little thing that audibly breathes. And, it’s canine hair is flopping around, egging your dog on and getting all over you furniture.
hi ,,,wow,…thank you for the amazing article…..ive been growing my beard for a few months now..been using a few beard oils from ebay,,but after a while decided to try to make some at home…The problem is that the scent of the oils dont last that very long (around 30 mins)…could it be the essential oil is diluted down ?…i live in asia and wanted to ask… what is the best essential oil brand around when making DIY beard oils?…and normally how long does the scent of essential oils last ?a few hours ?…Any info would be appreciated greatly…
So I just started growing my goatee out again. I have been putting it off for a while now because I hate the initial itching that comes with it. I have ridiculously course whiskers so I need something to make it softer. I decided to give this stuff a try and I will admit that I am very happy with the results. I’m not going to sit here and say that my whiskers are as soft as a baby birds feathers but they are noticeably softer. It has cut the itching in half. If I had to come up with one complaint it would be that I wish the bottle was double the size for the price. I like to put on more than the recommended dose. All in all I am very pleased!
Beard oil can be used in conjunction with beard balm or as a stand alone product. For best results wash your beard with an all natural beard soap and apply beard oil when dry. Splash a dime size amount of beard oil in your palm and massage into your skin and beard. Brush the oil through your beard with a boars hair beard brush to help distribute the oil evenly throughout your facial hair. Use up to three times a day as needed. Like all natural beard balm, beard oil does not need to be rinsed out.
Do you exfoliate? If you have a beard (and even if you don’t), your skin will thank you for it. Using grade-A facial scrubs will help you ensure that you’re really getting all the gunk out from underneath your facial hair before you apply beard oil.
Beard oil is an easy to use moisturizer and leave in conditioner that comes in a bottle or pump. Quality beard oils will moisturize the skin underneath your beard, soften your facial hair, reduce itching and create the conditions for healthy beard growth. For best results, use a beard oil with a jojoba or argan base. Jojoba and argan are the best facial hair moisturizers and both have a long shelf life.
We have created the perfect balance between the two products with our Woodland Harmony Beard Balm. It has all the nourishing properties of beard oil given by the powerful carrier oils (coconut oil, peach kernel oil, palm oil) and the natural butters (cocoa butter and avocado butter).
That’s not unusual for those with thick beards. You may need to use more oil, yes, but other things you can try are applying the oil when your beard is still slightly damp. Now, this can be tricky. Applying oil when your beard is too damp can make it appear greasy, so you may have to do a little experimenting to see what works best for you. But by applying it before your beard is completely dry will help trap that moisture in your beard. Next, it’s always a good idea to top the beard oil with beard balm. The oils in the balm will also help to condition your beard, and the sealants will help your beard stay hydrated longer by sealing in the moisture.
I like the eye-dropper bottle the best, of their collection. The oil works great, and has a good smell. My wife prefers the smell of other beard oils (she likes the Bay Lime one best) but Dreambeard is a fine brand.

The time to recharge the battery takes too long. The product works on the nickel metal hydride battery which does not performs as well as the lithium ion battery, and thus you need to give long hours to your trimmer to charge full.
Compact size– The compact product size makes it easy to handle, and convenient to operate. As you can handle the product easily, the trimming process becomes even more convenient, as you do not feel any sort of pain in using the product for long. Here the compact size does not indicate any sort of disability in the product. This electric beard trimmer has it all to satiate all kinds of trimming needs.
Making your own beard oil is that easy! After you’ve added your essential oils, put the cap on, shake it up, and enjoy. To use, simply put a small dab on your fingers (a few drops is all that’s necessary) and rub into your beard. The best time to use is after a shower when you’ve washed your beard and your skin is fresh.
A lithium-ion battery – which comes with your trimmer – delivers maximum power for high-performance trimming. The battery is designed to provide 80 minutes of cordless use before you’ll need to charge it, which makes it the best cordless beard trimmer on the market.
It’s OK at this point to trim the patchy edges, but don’t touch any hairs that you’re planning to keep. You can even brush your beard to start training the hairs to lie a certain way (and a quality beard brush is essential to any beardsman’s grooming kit).
This is how the demand for coconut oil started increasing and becoming the center of attention. More cosmetic producers started including it in their formulas while all hair experts recommending it as the number one product to use when you want to grow your beard faster -and yes, hair as well.

Other essential oils are used primarily for their scent: sandalwood, clove, sage, rosewood, tea tree, lime, bay rum, vanilla, etc. All told, there are around 100 essential oils available to consumers.
