In case you’re too lazy to read everything until this point, or just in a rush, I’ll wrap it up for you. There are a ton of resources out there to answer any bearded and unbearded questions you may have, but to help your beard you need to be healthy, be patient, and buy Beardbrand.
In the 15th century, most European men were clean-shaven. 16th-century beards were allowed to grow to an amazing length (see the portraits of John Knox, Bishop Gardiner, Cardinal Pole and Thomas Cranmer). Some beards of this time were the Spanish spade beard, the English square cut beard, the forked beard, and the stiletto beard. In 1587 Francis Drake claimed, in a figure of speech, to have singed the King of Spain’s beard.

Many beard trimmers can’t give you ideal stubble, and your best bet is to buy a stubble trimmer meant for the job. The biggest difference between the two is in the settings. A stubble trimmer can trim facial hair extremely short – short enough to give you the 5 o’clock shadow look if you so desire.
A big movement for us in 2016 was to grow beyond the beard. We realize that many men decide to grow their beards in the winter and shave it for the summer. This is something that we have always supported as it’s up to the the individual to dictate their style, not pressures from society.
Avoid man-made chemicals in cosmetics, especially BPA, parabens, and phthlates. They are all proven antiandrogens and can lower testosterone and DHT, inhibiting beard growth. Especially avoid using moisturizers with these on facial hair area!

The Cedarwood Beard Oil Conditioner is produced by Beau Brummell for Men – a company named after a refined 18th century England gentleman named after George Bryan Brummell, the man credited with inventing the modern men’s suit.
The big difference between beard balm and beard oil is that balm is thicker and can be used as a styling agent. Some say balm is better during the early stages of beard growth when it’s more scruff than the real thing.
I’ve used coconut oil as a softener for my beard several times. I’m using a virgin organic brand. Smells great when I put it in. However, after it has been left in for about four or five hours, it starts to smell (and taste) like soap. I find this fairly unpleasant. Anybody else have this sort of issue?
Hey Rahul. That’s very difficult to say cause it’s not certain that beard growth can actually help with beard growth. Every case is unique. Using it though would only be beneficial to your beard grooming routine
A great post, I found this one too with some great ideas and lots of positive comments too. I’ve tried a few things to grow a decent beard but vitamins and exercise that produces testosterone seems to be the winner 🙂
What is it made from? Your beard trimmer should be made of high-quality materials, such as stainless steel, and have a good construction. This helps you to know if it will last for the long haul and if it is a reliable model.
Hi. Which is the best oil or cream available online for beard growth. I could not find any oil or cream related to facial hair growth online other than few hair nourishment products. I have a beard but its not thick. Also does age has to do anything with the growth of the beard.
Nutrition plays an important role in how fast your beard grows and how great it looks. Experts say that a healthy skin will translate to a health hair so a diet rich in Omega-3 and vitamins (particularly vitamin A) is a great step in the right direction. Also avoid drinking too much alcohol as this causes dehydration.
Next, apply some utility balm or beard oil. Applying conditioning agents to damp hair allows them to be absorbed more effectively. We’re also about to bust out a hairdryer, so these products will help protect your hair while you manipulate it with heat.
If you have insecurities about your physical appearance, and you want to step it up, then maybe you can find styles that fit your crappy beard. Here’s the thing, a patchy beard or one that grows in clumps, at a short length, you can still pull it off. You can pair together with the part that grows in thick. If you grow in a full mustache, keep that up and trim your beard to a short length. Highlight the parts of your beard that are your strengths, and stay away from the negative parts.
The best practice here is to grow what you got. That means if your chin comes in well, grow it out. If your mustache is rocking, grow it out! If you have some mutton chops, rock those too! Keep the areas that are a little thinner at a short length. You can rock the stubble or the shadow. Whether that’s the beard stache, scruffy goat, or just mutton chops, then it’ll leave you with a really unique style. Grow it out for a few months to see what you have, then trim the other areas to rock what you have! High school will not be your peak. You are going to continue to grow, and your beard will get better.
If you’re new to beard trimming, experts suggest that you use the longest length setting to start. That will help prevent you from cutting your beard too short as you’re getting the hang of your new trimmer.
i m 18 years old,,i’ve little but visible mustache and beard and i just want to grow it to the fullest..my question is that do beard oils increase the growth of facial hair and should i use to apply it on my face to grow beard ..??
Beards have been part of the Amish culture for, well, forever. Suffice to say; it figures that their methods of beard care – now having been passed down for generations – are worth paying attention to. Their hand-crafted, all-natural beard oil is worth the price of admission for its smell alone, which is decidedly distinctive but not overpowering.
Think of your arm or leg hair. If you were to shave it off, it would grow back, but after a certain length it stops. This is when you have hit terminal length. On a beard, different parts of your face hit terminal length at different stages of growth. For example, your sideburns typically hit terminal length faster that the area around and below your chin. This is the reason why beards tend to have an oval shape when left untouched. Your mustache will also hit terminal length before your beard. This is especially true for the middle section of the stache.
That being said, there is one thing you have to be careful with: rinsing. After each step, make sure you got all the extra product off your beard, because otherwise, this will have the opposite effect: instead of getting softer, your beard will get dry and, thus, rougher.
You want to wash with Birch Tar Soap http://themodcabin.com/product/birch-tar-soap/. A regular store bought shampoo or soap may dry out your beard and make it brittle. Once your beard is nearly dry, apply beard oil. We suggest Gunbarrel Beard Oil http://themodcabin.com/product/gunbarrel-beard-oil/, and you can top it off with our Backwoods Beard Balm to provide some hold and lock in all that moisture. http://themodcabin.com/product/backwoods-beard-balm-conditioner/
Beard oils are designed to mimic the natural oils produced by the skin. They’re grown hugely in popularity over the past several years but date as least as far back as early Native Americans. The quest for a moist, non-itchy, non-beardruff beard is nothing new, after all.
I was growing a beard for about 3 months, and it was looking pretty good but there was definite patchiness (I had since had to shave due to a new job). I kept the mustache and I had the basic shape of the mustache I was wanting to go for but it didn’t fill in as thick as I would prefer it to, understanding that beard oil doesn’t quite help growth what can you recommend I do to get that mustache filled in properly? I know it’s a determination process but I know there’s gotta be some way to at least speed up the process somewhat. Also in my early 20’s if that’s a variable factor. Waiting for a reply at anytime!
Hello beardmates.. I am going to make my own beard oil and I would like some advice from you all on the subject of mixes. I have bought sweet almond and jojoba as carrier oils (intend to use 2 parts almond, 1 part jojoba for base) and pine needle, cinnamon, eucalyptus and sandalwood essential oil. My goal is to make 3 mixes. A wooden smell, chill refreshing smell and a sweet smell (based on cinnamon, you’d guess). So… have any advice for me?
Thanks for your question. It will help create the right conditions for you to grow a healthy beard. It will help nourish your facial hair below the skin, so that your beard grows in strong and healthy, but it will also keep existing facial hair moisturized to prevent it from becoming brittle and breaking. Once you’ve grown your beard out a few centimeters, our Beard Balm will also help your beard appear thicker. You can find our beard oils here: http://themodcabin.com/product-category/beard-oils/ And our beard balms here: http://themodcabin.com/product-category/beard-balms/

They note their products are made with only all natural ingredients and free of synthetic chemicals. The ingredients are listed; certified BFA organic Australian olive and Jojoba oil. They use a combination of essential oils like bay, rosemary, cedarwood, and lime. They also feature Kunzea oil to relieve beard itch and irritation. Overall a great combination resulting in a soft, itch-free beard.
Using the wrong scissors or trimmer can have negative effects on the quality of your beard. Once you get your trimming game on, make sure that your trimming gadget is properly cleaned and properly sharpened. Otherwise, this can lead to actually breaking the hair, instead of cutting it. And beard will be more prone to split ends which will lead to… ? You guessed it right! A rough beard.
We’d absolutely recommend beard oil for a starter beard. When you’re starting your beard, it’s easy to forget that the hair forming under the skin at the root needs to be cared for properly so that it can grow in strong and healthy. For that reason it’s important to keep your skin moisturized, and our beard oil has the ingredients to do that. It’s a light oil that absorbs into hair and skin easily, and won’t leave you feeling greasy.
Last week I sat in a Brooklyn barbershop where five bearded men talked about beard maintenance in the same way as I’ve heard men analysing a football game on a Monday morning. They discussed strategy and effectiveness; trials and failures. They laughed and nodded and bumped fists.
How much should you apply? A couple of drops will usually do the trick, but you may need more depending on the length of your beard. If you are new to the game and your beard is shorter than half an inch, a couple of drops will work just fine.
We understand that there are some cases of beard patchiness that will never ever be remedied. However, that doesn’t mean that you need to opt for the completely shaven look either. Although we don’t suggest this to many, the best way to combat persistent beard patchiness is to simply opt for a shorter length of facial hair, going as far as what many simply consider “scruff.” Much like baldness, it’s much less noticeable when your facial hair is already at a short length so the areas that simply don’t grow hair become less apparent in comparison to those that do.
Of course, you should try our beard oil. We mentioned it in the article, but you can find out more about it here: //beardoholic.com/product/beardoholic-oil/. You can get biotin here: http://amzn.to/2xcHTMW
So, give your beard a proper shampooing and conditioning. Our motto in terms of hygiene is that there is no such thing as too clean. So don’t worry about washing your beard too often. Three times per week would be a fair number of times, if you ask us.
Follow up your shampoo with some beard conditioner, like Zeus Beard Conditioner Wash for Men. Not only does it soften all that new beard bristle you’re experiencing, it has a manly, subtle verbena lime scent that will make the ladies swoon.
The first thing you’ll need to decide is when to apply your beard balm. We’re assuming that you’re like most men and that it will be part of your morning routine. And we suggest you apply your balm after your morning shower when your beard is warm and damp. This is when your hair – and skin – will most absorb your balm’s key ingredients.
If you want to try using sea salt spray in your beard (it’s not for everyone!), you’ll want to start your routine with it. Apply the spray to your beard when it’s still wet from the shower and distribute throughout your hair with a beard comb. Sea salt spray will give you a more textured version of your natural beard that has a bit more volume than it would otherwise.
