Go easy on your beard. You don’t to always be touching it, grabbing at it, brushing, or combing it. Let it breathe. Cotton sheets and pillowcases can also be a cause of the friction pulling at your beard, so maybe consider satin sheets. They are much smoother and less likely to lead to those lost hairs you find in the morning.

Beard combs are an essential tool for any bearded man. You may not have much use of one if you have a very short beard, but the longer—and more tangled—your beard gets, you’re going to want a quality beard comb.
They also note that there’s a downside to being a testosterone-sensitive, beard-heavy guy—you’re more likely to go bald than your sparse-bearded not-so-testosterone-sensitive counterparts. So, if you have a thin beard and you’ve always worried about the same happening on your head, know that it’s not likely. Also, some patchy beards look damn good.
In addition to vitamin B supplements, you can promote hair growth with a diet anchored in proteins, vegetables, whole grains, cheese, and yogurt. This will ensure that you get all the right nutrients for sturdy, efficient hair growth. You’ll want to focus on foods rich in vitamins A, B, C, and E in addition to proteins. Here’s a shortlist for your next grocery run: eggs, almonds, whole grains, cheese, yogurt, salmon, chicken, leafy greens, carrots, legumes, avocadoes, onions, sweet potatoes, and tomatoes. Round out that roster with other nutrient-dense foods, and you should be sending all the right vitamins and proteins into your blood stream for maximum hair growth and strength.
When starting to let your beard grow, just stop shaving — completely. Do not shave at all for at least the first four weeks of growth. One of the most common errors is to attempt to start shaping or sculpting the beard too early in the process. Even if you are just planning to grow a “Van Dyke” or goatee, you should let everything grow for the first four weeks. WHY let your beard grow for four weeks before you start to shape it — even if you are just growing a goatee? If you don’t wait, you might cut off more than you really wanted. Also, you might not have thought about going for the striking effect of an oversized goatee. You can always trim it down to a smaller size later.
One more thing sets utility balm apart from its oil-based cousin: versatility. Beard oil is fantastic for keeping the skin under your beard and your beard healthy, but utility balm was designed to use as a skin moisturizer, too. You can use it as a daily moisturizer, something to keep your tattoos bright, or you can save it for dryer months that require some extra TLC.
Another key feature of the ER-GB40-S is its Quick-adjust dial that provides 19 precision settings, which is handy whether you’re trimming your beard or hair, or sculpting, cutting, and detailing areas such as your sideburns and mustache. The settings are from 1 mm to 10mm which makes it easy to find the length you need for each job.
Eggs – Rich in protein and are a natural source of Biotin which is known to strengthen hair and is a well-known supplement which helps with beard growth. Eggs also have many minerals in them such as iron, calcium, and zinc.
5. Get a Beard Transplant: Yes, beard transplants are a real thing. For a few stacks you can have the doctor pluck some hairs from the back of your scalp and transplant them onto your patchy spots. (Full coverage can run you a semester’s tuition at Harvard.) After a couple thousand grafts, the hair falls out after two weeks and then regrows after a few months. So there’s a long waiting period of trusting that it’s going to work. Until suddenly, it does.
Now that you’ve chosen your go-to beard oil, it’s time to take it for a spin. And, really, there’s not a lot to applying beard oil – put a couple of drops of it in the palm of your hand, then use your fingers to gently rub it on and inside of your beard.
To apply beard balm simply open the tin and use the back of your thumbnail to scrape some out. Warm the balm in between your fingers by rubbing them together. Gently apply the balm to your beard with your fingers and massage it in. Use a comb to then evenly distribute the balm. A brush can be used for this step but a comb is much easier to clean and maintain when applying product.

Avoid man-made chemicals in cosmetics, especially BPA, parabens, and phthlates. They are all proven antiandrogens and can lower testosterone and DHT, inhibiting beard growth. Especially avoid using moisturizers with these on facial hair area!

Beard dandruff is caused by the micro-organism Malassezia globosa and it’s feeding on the natural oils produced by your skin. Those oils are called sebum. The Malassezia globosa break down the oils into an oleic acid and some people have a sensitivity to the acid. People have a sensitivity which produces skin cells at a higher rate and this overproduction of skin cells is what causes dandruff. So it sucks to have beard flakes, but it’s a pretty common issue for people.
Donning an unkempt beard simply defeats the purpose of growing one out. A premium beard oil can only do so much to save face, literally. Which is why you’ll need to invest in an ecosystem of beard care products to fully preserve your burly appearance. These are just some of the necessities to consider stocking in the grooming cabinet next to those beard elixirs.
This article definitely hit home with me. Touched on things like sleep and nutrition which are affecting other facets of my daily life. It made me think about the changes I need to make anyways. Thank you for posting.
The balm is easy to work with and mold in your hands prior to application (it has exceptional softness) and therefore is easier to spread in your beard hair. You’ll also love the scent: it’s mild and woodsy, manly yet sophisticated.
Can beard oil help your beard grow faster? We often get asked this question. Beard oil is a great beard conditioner, but did you know the right beard oil can also help your beard grow in healthier? Although nothing can change the rate at which your hair grows, beard oils containing unrefined jojoba and pure argan oil help create the conditions for healthy growth, which means less breakage so your beard will appear thicker and longer faster.

Dehydration, has, unfortunately, an ugly effect, for our skin, but also for everything that is attached to it. As a general rule, not drinking enough water for a longer period of time can have some ugly consequences. Like a very tired complexion, full of spots or a very dull and wiry bear, lacking shine and health.
Because of the moisturizing oils and vitamins that we use, our beard oil will tame those flyaway hairs. When your beard follicles grow, they naturally require more nutrients and moisture. 2. Let It Grow: In the same way you need to suffer through some awkward medium-length hairstyles en route to Fabio-like hair, sometimes you need to suffer through some awkward beard growing phases in order to fill in the patchy spots. Even if it’s not quite curly enough to fill in the patchy spots by just swirling over them, let it all grow out as long as you can and it’ll start to cover these spots. You should let it grow untrimmed on the cheeks and under the chin for at least a month at the start. Relax it daily with a nourishing beard oil, to encourage some movement and softness. A weekly hot oil treatment will do wonders for softness (and for your skin), and you can also brush the beard daily, then coach the strays over any patches with a high-hold, conditioning beard balm. But please, while you grow it out, keep the neckline, cheeklines, and mustache in check.
Before we get into all the details of how to grow a beard, let’s knock out some common terminology that will help in your journey. To begin, a beard is facial hair on the cheeks, neck, chin, and upper lip. When most people hear the word “beard” they think of a full beard that is generally longer than 1/2”. That thought process considers a beard a specific facial hair style, whereas the word “beard” could also be a general term like the term “facial hair.” So, you really have a beard if you have any facial hair – from scruff to sideburns, and of course, the full beard.
Hi , I may have missed it in the ” how to bit ” , but to me right up there with the hair thickness etc in order of importance is hair colour of both beard and head . That`s what I believe is top priority to a beard style .It can be broken down into light, dark,& grey . I`ve got the magpie look for now .
To grow a healthier beard, it’s important to become a healthier you. Ditch empty carbs and go for protein instead, like omega-3-containing fish and other lean protein. Get on a vitamin regimen and be sure to devote at least 7 hours a night to sleep. And as always, exercise—it promotes beard growth.
Our friends over at Tools of Men do a really great job at covering a wide variety of topic for men. Face creams, watch reviews, the different types of razors and oils to use, and so much more than we can’t even begin to describe. You just gotta check it out yourself! Hell, maybe you’ll learn a thing or two.
One of the biggest complaints about beard balms, in general, is the smell. A lot of people aren’t fond of the smell of beeswax, for instance (though others love it). Beard Balm solves this problem. This particular beard balm by Beard Balm is their “Original Scent,” which they describe as a combination of lemon peel, eucalyptus leaf, and geranium. Geranium is indeed a flower, but it’s a common ingredient in many of the better men’s colognes. Meanwhile, lemon peel and eucalyptus offer a refreshing, somewhat zesty scent that’s clean and masculine. The thoughtfulness behind the scent profile makes Beard Balm easily the best beard balm when it comes to smelling good.
Beard oil absorbs into the skin and hair more quickly than balm. As a result, your beard will have a matte finish appearance, rather than glossy or shiny. Beardsmen with longer beards should use a beard brush or comb to distribute the oil evenly through the entire beard. While their appearance is subtle, oils will afford you a silky smooth beard without the gunky texture you might get from commercial conditioners and silicone products.
Use a moisturizer, or a natural beard oil on your beard follicles to soften the hairs and to keep the beard from itching too much. While there will always be some itchiness associated with the growing of body hair, it’s possible to control somewhat. Read the third section for more information about beard care.
After you’ve combed your bed-beard out layer by layer, comb it back down into the desired shape. You can even use your hands and some product to apply the finishing touches after you’ve combed it down.
