After hitting up Mistah FAB on Twitter earlier today, it dawned on me that we have done a lackluster job of promoting our own Mike Meezy’s summer jam of record. One that, in fact, co-stars Mistah FAB. So, just in time for all of those Labor Day festivities, here’s the FTB-special, limited-time-only free download. The song features both E-40 Fonzarelli and FAB the Twitterer, who has graciously agreed to retweet our offer to his thousands of Oaklandish followers.
So, without further ado, click the arrow above (and on the right) to cop the song to your desktop. Burn it. Put it on a device. Do what you feel. Then, do what the song says. Get a mojito, bellini, or cosmo. Or better still, grab some Don Julio and commence to getting Don Julidummy whenever the mood strikes.
If you’re from the Bay Area and at least passingly familiar with the hyphy subsegment of the hip-hop universe, the name Mistah FAB is probably one you know. After Ghostridin’ it and mixing up cocktails with FTB’s Mike Meezy, now FAB wants you to “hit him on Twitter.” I can’t help but wonder if this seemingly unlikely digital partnership has a commercial twist. Is Twitter using FAB as a promotional vehicle to unlock an urban market? And paying him to do so? Or is FAB just using Twitter (presumably with permission) to create new levels of access for his fans and extend the reach of his personal brand? Or am I overthinking all of this and he’s just name checking a social-media trend, the way rappers name check everything from cars to cognac?
Anyway, I guess there’s only one way to get some answers. I’m fixin’ to do what the song said and hit him on Twitter. Any revelations will be added to this post in subsequent updates.
