Damn, it feels good to be a blue state.

Dear Coastal FTB Brethren,
Hey, it’s your landlocked pen pal here, across the Sierras, across the Great Basin of Nevada, across the Rocky Mountains here in Colorado. This morning I am happy to report that the route I just described - roughly the line drawn from San Francisco to Denver by Interstate 70 - last night shifted to blue. Blue in Nevada (let’s thank our FTB guru Guthrie for his work there)! Blue in - well, OK, Utah is still red. But blue in Colorado, where we not only voted in Obama by a solid margin (53 to 45), we also kicked out two despicable racists in the old Jesse Helms mode: Marilyn Musgrave (aka, “Sarah Palin with a beer gut”) and her evil twin, Tom “Immigrants Built - er, Destroyed - this Country” Tancredo.
What’s most incredible, though, is what’s already been accomplished in the past 24 hours. Just by electing Obama, the people of this country have significantly restored the the image of America in the minds of people around the world. Just by electing Obama, Americans have reminded ourselves that we are capable of rising to greatness when the moment demands it. Yes there are some big disappointments, Prop 8 chief among them. But the newfound confidence of a nation on a road to tolerance will keep us all working hard for civil rights.
I heard an interview with Obama supporter and author Philip Roth recently in which he admitted, “I fear that America will not pass the racial test it has put itself to.” Guess what: We passed.
Obama - and everyone who supported him - have already accomplished something great and meaningful. Congratulations to all of us.

Congratulations on Colorado turning Blue. Now all you need is a Trader Joe’s.
