Oklahoma City names team after Warriors’ mascot instead of former point guard.
After initial speculation that the Oklahoma City franchise recently stolen from Seattle would be named the “Barons,” new information has surfaced. Apparently dissatisfied with the prospect of capitalizing on the region’s history of disenfranchising Native American land–and unable to land Baron Davis in free agency–the NBA’s erstwhile Seattle Supersonics are rumored to have settled on the name “Thunder” for the now Oklahoma City-based squad. This rumor is based solely on domain-name registration data and a league scheduling document, as detailed by friend of FTB Tom Ziller. Read all about it here.
Now, if we can just trade our mascot “Thunder” for Kevin Durant, the circle of absurdity represented by the franchise’s departure from Seattle would be complete.

do you think we have the cap space to get Durant for Thunder? Kawakami probably knows.

Durant’s still on his rookie deal and Thunder works for Warrior Dogs and post-game Patron Silver. I think we can swing it.

I say we go for it. Thunder has been whining about his on court minutes for years. Besides he’s always pestering the security guards and the bald dudes in the high roller seats court side.

If we throw in the little guy with the roller shoes and a stack of pizza’s, I think it might work.
