FTBers, Start Your Engines!!!
Well Boys & Girls, it’s that time again. That’s right…..NBA Draft predictions time. I’ve been involved in numerous pre-pre-draft conversations regarding the Dubs and I personally think it’s abundantly clear what we need to accomplish in this draft. Can you say ‘low-post player’ boys and girls. That’s right…..the Dubs are in desperate need of a 4 and/or 5. We needs rebounds, we need blocked shots and we need an offensive threat in the post. So, I was doing a little research and wanted to provide my fellow FTBers with the who’s who in available draftees. As most of you know the draft order has not been determined, but you can never start talking draft too early.
At the Center position we have:
Kevin Love 6-10/250, UCLA
Roy Hibbert 7-2/278, Georgetown
Jason Thompson 6-11/25, Rider
Joey Dorsey 6-9/260, Memphis
At the Power Forward position we have:
Michael Beasley 6-9/235, Kansas State
Tyler Hansbrough 6-9/245, North Carolina
Brook Lopez 7-0/240, Palo Alto Community College
Luke Harangody 6-8/250, Notre Dame
D.J. White 6-9/251, Indiana
Let the banter begin!!!
Cleezy

Palo Alto Community College! That is funny. But dude. Cleezy. We talked about this last night. I’m serious about Ryan Anderson. He can stroke the three, rebound, he led the Pac-10 in scoring and he’s pretty big too. He’s Austin Croshere 2.0.

Oh hell no! And please can we take Brook Lopez off of the list, and don’t even go there with Robin “Sideshow Bob” Lopez. I think we can scratch Beasley off too because there’s a snow cone’s chance in hell we’re getting him. The rest of these cats, I need to do some more research on. What about Darrel Arthur?

Best comment I heard about this today was that it doesn’t really matter…
Whoever it turns out to be, Nellie will have that fool riding the bench all next year… as with all rookies.
Anyway, fun season. Next year promises to be another.

Ryan Anderson is going to get used in the League. Can you say Dan MacLean. Or Better yet Tom Gugliotta….

But I agree with you about Anderson. I don’t see what you see Turman.

Skinny K is right. If Nellie returns, the new guy will probably end up the towel guy. Or, perhaps leading the Bakersfield Jam in rebounds and blocks. The last time Nellie played a rook serious minutes was C-Webb. At a position he wasn’t happy playing, as we all know.
I do think Beasley is a beast, and if we have a shot at him (without giving up Tay or Spike), I might be inclined in that direction.
Roy Hibbert is a BIG boy. Rebounds, free throws (80%) and soft touch. BUT, I’ve read he lacks quickness and has problems running the floor in transition. That could spell trouble in Nelliville.
I like Dorsey too. Aggressive rebounder. Dirty work guy. We need that. But I’m not sure he’s a top 10 pick.
A few others we might look at:
Danilo Gallinari – Another Italian. But 6-9/210 pound who is meant to have a great 3pt. Sound about right?
JaVale McGee – 7-0/237 from Nevada. Freakish 7-6 wingspan, but a 50% free throw shooter. Ugh.
And similarly, DeAndre Jordan – Great size at 7-0/250. But needs work on the fundis.
Anthony Randolph – 6-10/200 from LSU. Kinda’ lanky. Could be another B. Wright. And we see where Nelson got him.
