Webber cleared. Ready to resume retirement.

Pool side.

Regardless of his production (or lack of) on the hardwood for the Dubs, it sounds like the move to bring C-Webb back to Oakland has been productive and emotionally healing for he and Nelson.

Here’s a bit of what Nellie is saying: “I really enjoyed working with him. It was great to get to know him again as a man, and I really enjoyed our short time together. I wish it really would’ve worked out better, but it didn’t. And I think we’ll remain friends for the rest of our lives.”

- From Janny Hu

Wow. I’m happy for those guys. Really.

But man, if Webber is really gone after only putting up 36 points in his 9 games, that’s um, like $34,000 per field goal. I don’t think I’m going out on a limb when I say that I think Rod Benson would give us a bigger bang for the buck.

  1. “Get the old guys back together for one last run” works in Hollywood, but not in Basketball and definitely not in Rock and Roll. The C-Webb experiment was like the Van Halen Tour of ‘07. Remember that? Of course you don’t, because it never happened. People wanna see Chris Webber “jump” just about as much as they wanna see old, crazy-ass, flaming gay DLR sing “Hot For Teacher.”

  2. C-Webb said:

“I really didn’t want to rehab and come back this season because I don’t think that was possible,” Webber said. “Plus, because the way the team is playing, the chemistry is great with these guys, they’re on a roll. I feel like they’re going to win, they have a great chance to go very far in the playoffs. I just felt it was time to let the game go and be able to be happy about what I accomplished without trying to keep coming back.”

  4. Janny Hu is so good at what she does: big ups to her. Anyway, Chris Webber was way past his time and I think he was just a tactic to try to satisfy the fans since the front office subsequently didn’t trade Mickael Pietrus. On Rob Benson, I hate to rely on Wikipedia but it states , “Benson’s senior year was marred by heel and knee injuries, which forced him to miss 11 games, impacting his future career heavily.” But he has been doing righteous in the D-League but you know them knees; just ask Chris Webber.

  5. Yeah, Benson’s senior year was also marred by unexplained staring into space during timeouts, but we’ll still take him.
