Beyond Vietnam, remembering the man with a lesser-known speech of Martin Luther King, Jr.

One of the things that has been largely forgotten in the nearly 40 years since April 4th 1968, is that Martin Luther King was a fierce critic of the American involvement in Vietnam. This is a YouTube-generation take on a speech that he gave one year (to the day) before his death. It shows that his courage and conviction were more varied than most people now give him credit for, sure. But it also shows that there is too much of his wisdom that still goes unheeded today.

PS. Barack Obama spoke at Dr. King’s church yesterday in Atlanta. For that video, make the jump and get your full Dr. King homage on. And yes, there was a game at the Oracle Arena today. And no, I don’t want to talk about it.
