Media-day blowback, FTB edition.

New unis?

Media day is over and the Dubs are now (charter flight permitting) holed up at the Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu’s North Shore. My advice is for any pseudo big-wave surfers among them is to heed the signs at the Banzai Pipeline and stay the hell out of the water.

Nonetheless, there aren’t too many surprises in camp, with the roster shown below courtesy of SF Gate. Powell, Brown and Burke are last-minute additions to fill out the practices, generate some position competition and indemnify against injury. The only notable semi-omission is that of Mssr. Pietrus, who is presumably still in France awaiting word on his contractual obligations. Maybe the biggest news is the apparent reappearance of a new alternate jersey, this time a “Golden State” throwback from the Rick Barry era. Mister Dolin will be along soon enough to revisit his design symposium vis-a-vis the Dubs unis, but until then consider this a step in the right direction toward the divine future perfect. Hopefully, camp will deliver in roughly the same fashion.

Update: Pietrus signed and is presumably on an Air France 747. Ha! Okay! Okay. My bad.

  1. It’s what’s in the uniform that matters. Mommy likes.

  2. I like the alternate uni. Not bad at all or a throw-back medley. The western/cowboy type keeps it from feeling fresh. I’ll take a look at that in the coming weeks – if I can get my computer back up and running that is.
