Vlade, pray Kosta can grow a beard.

Pray for growth.

As I read the Warriors feature on Kosta, I couldn’t help but hope that with Biedrins and now Perovic, the Warrior’s might address their perennial “get a big man” complex. It is an issue that has haunted the Dubs and led to more bad trades, drafts and investments then any of us care to remember. Who can forget these blunders? Trading for Alton Lister over drafting Shwan Kemp, drafting Todd Fuller (who?) over Kobe Bryant or signing Adonal Foyle to how many years and how many millions?

In the article, Perovic name-checked fellow countryman and a bearded hero, Vlade Divac. Although Divac was mostly playing on other Western Conference teams matched against our beloved Warriors, I always respected his crafty game and monster heart.

Like Vlade or not, the bottom line was he delivered in the middle. Rebounds, blocks, scoring and even tasty assists (Biedrins, take note). In fact, I just read that Divac, joined Hakeem Olajuwon and Kareem Abdul-Jabaar as the only players in NBA history to amass 13,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, 3,000 assists and 1,500 blocked shots. That’s some serious production.

We’ve got a fast, young and dynamic team. Now let’s all hope (pray, if you like) that our two tall and very fresh faced Euros (only 22 and 21) grow some fearful beards this year.
